Example Uses :: MultiRun
MultiRun can be used in several different
ways. Here are a few ways that I've been
using it.
GeoShell
The original reason why I created this
app was for use with GeoShell.
Older versions of GeoShell had problems
with games or applications that took over
the whole screen. GeoBars would sometimes
remain on top of your game, or if the game
resized the screen, your bars would all
have moved when you finished playing.
I used MultiRun to automatically close
GeoShell when a game was executed, wait
for the game to finish and then re-run Geoshell
again. This is no longer a problem with
new releases of GeoShell, however I have
found other uses for MultiRun.
myHTPC
I use myHTPC
in conjunction with Girder
to allow remote control of a PC. However,
you must ensure that Girder is fully up
and running before starting myHTPC, or the
remote control will not operate it. Therefore
I use MultiRun in the startup folder of
the computer to control the order the apps
start on boot, and also to ensure that Girder
has fully loaded before running myHTPC.
I also use myHTPC to run PowerDVD on the
same PC. Sometimes PowerDVD
will open, but will not gain focus, meaning
that the remote control will not function
with it. Therefore I use MultiRun to execute
PowerDVD, wait a couple of seconds for it
to fully load, and then set the focus to
the main PowerDVD window.
Running Games
Whenever I use my PC I have several programs
running on startup. These include mail checkers,
RSS news feed readers, instant messengers
etc. When I want to play a game it's always
a pain to close each of these apps individually
so that they do not interfere with play.
Also it's annoying having to re-open each
one again when I finish with the game. Therefore
I use MultiRun to close all of the programs,
sit and wait while I play the game, and
finally re-run all my apps after I have
closed the game, all automatically!
