Below is a list of frequently asked question
about Trillian LogExplorer.
What are the system requirements of LogExplorer?
Windows 98,2000,XP
Trillian!
VB 6 Runtimes (service pack 4 or above)
Other VB files and DLLs required:
- Comdlg32.ocx

LogExplorer is not showing my log files.
LogExplorer should automatically locate
your log files and display them. You may
however be asked to locate your Trillian
folder. To do this simply click the 'File'
menu and select 'Reconfigure Trillian Location...'.
Click the 'Browse' button next to the top
box and locate your Trillian installation
folder. Once you have done this, the other
two boxes should automatically be filled
in.
This should allow LogExplorer to automatically
locate your log files. However, if you are
still having problems, or you have archived
logs that you wish to view, you can use
the 'Add Log Locations Manually' option
from the 'File' menu. Simply use the 'Add'
button to create a list of folders you wish
LogExplorer to look in to locate log files.
You can add as many folders to this list
as you wish.
LogExplorer still doesn't show my log files.
This problem should have been rectified
with version 1.1.1, however, if you are
still having problems try the instructions
below.
There is a known problem where LogExplorer
still fails to locate the log files. This
problem is in the process of being rectified,
however a work around is as follows.
Select the 'Reconfigure Trillian Location...'
option in the 'File' menu. This time, manually
select the location of your log files by
clicking the 'Browse' button next to the
box marked 'Trillian's default user folder:',
this should allow LogExplorer to locate
you log files.
If this has not worked you can manually
edit the 'logExplorer.ini' file found in
the LogExplorer installation folder. Follow
the instructions below:
If you store you logs in your Windows
documents and settings folder, change
the following in the ini file:
[TrillianUserFolder]
c:\documents & settings\USERNAME\Trillian\User
Settings
If that doesn't work try it like this:
[TrillianUserFolder]
c:\documents & settings\USERNAME\Trillian\User
Settings\default
The [TrillianUserFolder] setting in the
'LogExplorer.ini' file basically points
towards a folder to look in for the logs,
if the Trillian 'Profiles.ini' file does
not contain an explicit location for the
them. So hopefully by pointing it towards
your logs folder it will enable LogExplorer
to find them.
A full fix for this issue is coming soon.
I get an 'ActiveX' error when I try to run
LogExplorer.
This problem seems to have something to
do with Windows Scripting Host 5.6 being
installed incorrectly, disabled, or not
registered properly.
Try re-registering Windows Scripting Host
or re-installing it. This should prevent
this error message.
Many thanks to Troy Chinnery for sorting
this one out.
